Volunteers are needed to make monthly deliveries of pet food, adopt a senior and their pet(s), host pet food drives, assist with inventorying donations and organizing the Animeals pets, food room, repackage pet food donations, pick up donations of pet food throughout the community and represent Animeals at special events. Thanks to partnerships with other non-profit organizations, we can assist our Meals on Wheels clients with receiving much needed veterinary services (such as vaccinations and spay/neutering). The Animeals program was founded so that homebound clients on Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston’s Meals on Wheels program would not feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their four-legged friends. Interfaith Ministries collects donated pet food that volunteers deliver each month to clients. Interfaith Ministries also partners with organizations in Liberty, Chambers and Montgomery Counties to deliver these meals.Īdditionally, our Animeals program delivers pet food to over 1,300 cats and dogs of Meals on Wheels clients. In conjunction with the Harris County Community Services Department, Interfaith Ministries reaches out to the remote areas of Harris County, serving elders across the county. Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston and Galveston County is able to serve clients with the help of partners like Harris County Area Agency on Aging, Texas Health and Human Services Commission and Managed Care Organizations serving Southeast Texas. This nutritional support helps people stay independent and in their own homes. The program also delivers weekend meals and a week’s worth of breakfast to about a quarter of our most frail and isolated clients.
